Hamnet-era mourning jewel from celebrated painting rediscovered after 400 years

A mourning jewel from the 17th-century painting 'Sir Thomas Aston at the Deathbed of His Wife' has been rediscovered after 400 years, highlighting its significance in art history and its connection to the era of Hamnet Shakespeare. The pendant, depicted in the predominantly monochrome work by John Souch, is currently housed in the Manchester Art Gallery.
